Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get service access through an attic wall in fire-hazard areas known as WUI-regulated areas?
Hinged or removable Multi-Guard Crawl Hole Doors provide service access through a wall while maintaining the rating required for the tested assembly under WUI regulations.
What gauges are available for WUI Tested Multi-Guard Crawl Hole Doors?
For all MGV products, 26-gauge galvanized steel is the WUI Listed choice and the recommended material. Stainless steel, bonderized steel, and copper are also available by request; lab-tested samples are galvanized steel.
What closing and latching features are used on WUI Tested Multi-Guard Crawl Hole Doors?
The hinged option of the vent does not include separate closing or latching features. The tight tolerance between the frame and the door is enough to keep the door in place when closed. Upon request, a specified locking mechanism can be added.
What type of hinge is used on WUI Tested Multi-Guard Crawl Hole Doors?
The Multi-Guard Crawl Hole Door features a standard continuous hinge, cut to size, that leaves no gap for flying embers to penetrate.
